Breaking news: Nearshore buoy in for the winter

Our real-time monitoring buoy was pulled out of the water earlier today, marking the end of a third successful season keeping boaters, anglers, and beach-goers up-to-date on lake conditions. It will return to the waters near Michigan City, IN in the spring.

In the meantime, visit NOAA's National Data Buoy Center to view archived data, and visit our website to learn more about how the Michigan City buoy helps scientists and forecasters better understand how the lake works.

The Michigan City real-time monitoring buoy is jointly owned and operated by IISG and the Purdue University Department of Civil Engineering.
